Lunsford Joins UIndy Administration as Deputy A.D. for Financial Management & Strategy
INDIANAPOLIS – The University of Indianapolis announced Deanna Lunsford as Deputy Athletics Director for Financial Management and Strategy on Monday.
Lunsford is a two-time graduate of Indiana University, earning her Master of Business Administration in 1999 while serving as a finance intern for Ford Motor Company.
“Deanna’s an exceptional financial and strategic analyst with a passion for transforming and standardizing organizational operations across many industry sectors,” said Interim Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Dr. D. Scott Gines. “She is an engaging, adaptive leader who knows how to lead in ways that positively impact the larger story of an organization, and I am thrilled she’s embraced this opportunity with UIndy Athletics.”
A seasoned veteran in the financial industry for more than two decades, Lunsford joins the UIndy administration following an eight-year stint at Providence Health and Services as its Finance Director. Lunsford served in three different roles while at Providence, including Finance Consultant and Operations Manager and Program Director, in addition to her Fiance Director title.
At Providence, Lunsford oversaw the organization’s master budget of $225 million, including consolidation of overarching capital and operating budget, multi-team annual budgets, and roll-up of subsidiary budgets. Lunsford also produced financial and operational models to project long-term growth, while performing financial modeling and ad hoc analysis as required.
Prior to Providence, Lunsford consulted at Finance and Project Consulting for Seattle-based companies such as Microsoft, Vertafore, and Nordstrom for a decade. Projects ranged from IT-Finance system implementation, KPIs, finance manager, and FP&A. She also procured consulting roles through firms LMC Consulting, Two Degrees, and Resources Global.
Before earning her MBA from Indiana, Lunsford was a financial analyst where she was hired into a three-year finance rotation program at American Airlines and Sabre. There, she provided analysis for internal capital, financial planning, and route profitability. Upon graduation, Lunsford worked as a senior financial analyst for Hewlett Packard for four years, managing finance life cycle and led all budgeting and planning.
Lunsford also had a short stint as a finance manager at Expedia Group, working closely with various Vice Presidents to derive projected target plans, forecasts, and ad hoc analysis.
Lunsford will officially join the UIndy administration on August 12.
