Muscatine receives 30th certificate of achievement in financial reporting
Muscatine has again been recognized for its financial reporting.
Last week, the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) announced it had awarded the city of Muscatine with a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, recognizing its annual comprehensive financial report for the 2023 fiscal year.
City Administrator Carol Webb said this is the 30th award Muscatine has received, the most of any entity in the state of Iowa, which Webb felt was a significant achievement.
“It demonstrates our ongoing commitment to sound fiscal management and transparency in budgeting,” Webb said in a public statement. “My sincere thanks to Finance Director Nancy Lueck, and the Finance Team, for continuing this record of excellence.”
According to the GFOA, the Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition that an entity can receive in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting.
Each financial report received by the GFOA has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.
